Dutch MoD press release
The Netherlands has announced a new maritime support package for Ukraine with a total value of around 400 million. It consists of more than 100 fast patrol boats and military vessels for special operations. Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced this today during a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels.
The vessels are equipped with numerous sensors, weapons and communication systems. Dozens of maritime drones are also part of the package. The first deliveries have already been made and continue until 2026.
“It is an important package to strengthen the maritime security of Ukraine. We see that the Russian threat on the Black Sea and the Dnieper River, among other things, is only getting bigger. The port of Odessa and the trade routes running through the Black Sea are the lifeblood of the Ukrainian economy. Without proper protection, it can collapse. We simply cannot let that happen.”

The Netherlands also invests 20 million in the Maritime Regional Training Centre. Ukrainian Marines are trained here. This package includes weapons, ammo and personal and tactical equipment.

Naval News comment:
At the moment, the type of fast patrol boats that will be donated to Ukraine has not been unveiled. However, this aid comes in addition to a broader European effort to bolster Ukrainian Navy capabilities especially in terms of fast attack crafts. The Netherlands has already committed to provide 14 RHIBs, 8 militarized river patrol boats and CB90s to Ukraine in March 2024. In January 2025, Sweden also announced the supply an extra package of sixteen CB90s in addition to the ones donated the previous years.
As the Netherlands is replacing its old FRISC (Fast Raiding, Interception and Special Forces Craft) by 13 new fast crafts as part of the FFI (Future Fast Interceptors) program, it can be assumed that these FRISC RHIBs could be part of the package.
