How Ukraine is Adapting, Enduring, and Striking Back

Mike Kofman and Ryan brought out the mics to discuss the pressing issues in the war between Ukraine and Russia. They focused on drones, the state of the front, manpower, Putin’s approach to Washington, and the contested policies around continued aid from the United States to Ukraine.  This episode features meaty excerpts from an episode of The Insider, featuring an interview with Jakub Jajcay talking about his article, “I Fought in Ukraine and Here’s Why FPV Drones Kind of Suck” as well as an episode of The Russia Contingency featuring a two part conversation with Stephen Kotkin, the leading historian of Russia and authoritarianism. Part 2: What Ancient Archaeology IS in Antarctica?

“Who tampers with Google maps once an image with lat/long are given in a public web forum or news media about a subject as apparently sensitive to government intelligence agencies as the alien presence of ancient archaeological structures and artifacts in Antarctica?”

Part 1: What Ancient Archaeology IS in Antarctica?

— “My government, NASA, which many of us in the U. S. say stands for Never A Straight Answer, proceeded to erase 40 rolls of film of the Apollo Program — the flight to the Moon, the flight around the Moon, the landings on the Moon, the walking of guys here and there. NASA erased, for Christ’s sake, 40 rolls of film of those events! Now we’re talking about several thousand individual frames that were taken that the so-called authorities determined that you did not have a right to see … (because) they were ‘disruptive,’ ‘socially unacceptable,’ ‘politically unacceptable.’ I’ve become furious. I’m a retired Command Sgt. Major. I was never famous for having a lot of patience.”
– Bob Dean, U. S. Army Command Sgt. Major /NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE),speaking to European Exopolitics Summit, Barcelona, July 25, 2009

Abundance of Methane and Carbon Dioxide in Exoplanet K2-18 b Could Mean Life 124 Light-Years from Earth.

“This is a transformational moment in the search for life beyond the solar system, where we have demonstrated that it is possible to detect biosignatures in potentially habitable planets with current facilities. We have entered the era of observational astrobiology.”

Read ESA’s Strategy 2040

The European Space Agency has published its strategy approaching challenges and opportunities up to 2040. Strategy 2040 is framed around five encompassing goals, each of which has specific objectives assigned.

The Five Goals demonstrate the important role space can play in every aspect of citizens’ lives across Europe.

Protect our Planet and Climate

Explore and Discover

Strengthen European Autonomy and Resilience

Boost Growth and Competitiveness

Inspire Europe

Strategy 2040 follows on from Agenda 2025, which was presented by Director General Josef Aschbacher on his first day in office. Some aspects of Agenda 2025 continue in the new strategy, including the ongoing ESA Transformation, designed to make interacting with ESA more efficient. The Director General has indicated his wish for the strategy to be ‘a living document’ and continue to adapt to the needs of the European Space Agency and its Member States. The strategy will also help to inform the proposals to be made at November’s Council at Ministerial level.

Part 1: Sasquatch That Can’t Be Killed with Bullets and Disappear in A Flash of Light.

“Until he passed away, the farmer’s son told me that he’d never forget how that large 8-foot-tall Bigfoot creature with those glowing green eyes kept looking back and staring at him as he’s firing live ammo into it. And he said there was no evidence that it was injured in any way!”
